Microsoft Excel and Word Shortcuts for Productivity

Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet which can be used for calculation, graphing tools, pivot tables, and a macro programming language called Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). Excel shortcuts are very essential for productivity and faster work.


                                                                     


Some MICROSOFT EXCEL shortcut keys

 o   F2 - Edit the selected cell.

o   F5 - Go to a specific cell.

o   F7 - Spell check selected text and/or document.

o   F11 - Create chart.

o   Ctrl + Shift + ; - Enter the current time.

o   Ctrl + ; - Enter the current date

o   Alt + Shift + F1 - Insert new worksheet.

o   Shift + F3 - Open the Excel formula window.

o   Shift + F5 - Bring up the search box

o   Ctrl + A - Select all contents of a worksheet.

o   Ctrl + B - Bold highlighted selection.

o   Ctrl + I - Italicize highlighted selection.

o   Ctrl + C - Copy selected text.

o   Ctrl + V - Paste.

o   Ctrl + D - Fill.

o   Ctrl + K - Insert link

o   Ctrl + F - Open find and replace options.

o   Ctrl + G - Open go-to options.

o   Ctrl + H - Open find and replace options.

o   Ctrl + U - Underline highlighted selection.

o   Ctrl + Y - Underline selected text.

o   Ctrl + 5 - Strikethrough highlighted selection.

o   Ctrl + O - Open options.

o   Ctrl + N - Open new document.

o   Ctrl + P - Open print dialog box.

o   Ctrl + S - Save.

o   Ctrl + Z - Undo last action.

o   Ctrl + F9 - Minimize current window.

o   Ctrl + F10 - Maximize currently selected window.

o   Ctrl + F6 - Switch between open workbooks/windows.

o   Ctrl + Page up & Page Down - Move between Excel worksheets in the same document.

o   Ctrl + Tab - Move between two or more open Excel files

o   Alt + = - Create the formula to sum all of the above cells.

o   Ctrl + - Insert the value of above cell into the current cell.

o   Ctrl + Shift + ! - Format number in comma format.

o   Ctrl + Shift + $ - Format number in currency format.

o   Ctrl + Shift + # - Format number in date format.

o   Ctrl + Shift + % - Format number in percentage format.

o   Ctrl + Shift + ^ - Format number in scientific format.

o   Ctrl + Shift + @ - Format number in time format.

o   Ctrl + Right arrow - Move to next section of text.

o   Ctrl + Space - Select entire column.

o   Shift + Space - Select entire row.

o   Ctrl + W - Close document.



                                                                         



Microsoft word is one of the essential software that is used to process word documents on daily basis. This works can be done faster if we combine some keys and perform some shortcuts with the help of keyboard. Some of the Microsoft word shortcuts that I personally perform on daily basis are given below.

  • Ctrl + F - To find content.
  • Ctrl + I - Italic highlighted selection.
  • Ctrl + K - Insert Hyperlink.

  • Ctrl + Left arrow - Move one word to the left.
  • Ctrl + Right arrow - Move one word to the right.
  • Ctrl + Up arrow - Move to the beginning of the line or paragraph.
  • Ctrl + Down arrow - Move to the end of the paragraph.
  • Ctrl + Del - Delete word to the right of the cursor.
  • Ctrl + Backspace - Delete word to the left of the cursor.
  • Ctrl + End - Move cursor to end of the document.
  • Ctrl + Home - Move cursor to the beginning of the document.
  • Ctrl + Space - Reset highlighted text to default font.
  • Ctrl + 1 - Single-space lines.
  • Ctrl + 2 - Double-space lines.
  • Ctrl + 5 - 1.5-line spacing.
  • Ctrl + Alt + 1 - Change text to heading 1.
  • Ctrl + Alt + 2 - Change text to heading 2.
  • Ctrl + Alt + 3 - Change text to heading 3.
  • F1 - For help.
  • Shift + F3 - Change case of selected text.
  • Shift + Insert - Paste.
  • F7 - Spell check selected text and/or document.
  • Shift + F7 - Activate the thesaurus.
